ANWB and Van Gogh National Park will collaborate in the coming years to create more space for walking, cycling, and recreation in nature. An important part of the collaboration is the development of the Boerenpoort: a concept that connects agriculture, landscape, and recreation, and could possibly be applied in other parts of the Netherlands as well. The parties signed a cooperation agreement for this at the beginning of September.

Both parties want to contribute to a more accessible and attractive landscape, especially now that the need for space to walk, cycle, exercise, and relax is growing. They see opportunities to better connect the agricultural landscape with recreational routes and the surrounding greenery.

Farm Gate as a Connection

The Farm Gate makes it possible to more easily walk from villages and residential neighborhoods into the farmland and visit agricultural businesses. This connects walking routes, landscape elements, and agricultural businesses with public functions. The concept can thus contribute to both recreation and landscape experience as well as the connection between city and countryside.

Development and Expansion

ANWB and Van Gogh National Park want to further develop the concept in the coming years. They are also looking at the possibilities of applying the approach outside Brabant. This could make the Farm Gate interesting for other national parks and area partners working on the combination of recreation, agriculture, landscape, and livability.

Collaboration

The collaboration fits with the ambition of Van Gogh National Park to work towards a greener, healthier, and more vital North Brabant, where nature, landscape, agriculture, culture, and recreation come together. For ANWB, the partnership aligns with the commitment to strong and accessible nature and recreation areas.
